विशेष वा विशिष्ट ज्ञान सीप प्राप्त हुने शिक्षा भनेको व्यावसायिक तथा प्राविधिक शिक्षा हो। यो उत्पादनमूखी, रोजगार मूखी र गरीखानको लागि स्वालम्बी आत्मनिर्भर भई जीवनोपयोगी सीपमूलक बनाउने शिक्षा हो। भविष्यको जीवन सँग सम्बद्ध भई कामको लागि सिकाइ (Learning to do) प्राप्त हुने शिक्षा हो। व्यावसायिक कार्यकुशलता अभिवृधि गर्दै शैक्षिक उत्पादनलाई व्यवहारिक जीवनोपयोगी र श्रम बजारसँग सम्बन्धित शिक्षा हो। व्यावसायिक तथा प्राविधिक शिक्षाले व्यक्तिलाई “बोली खाने भन्दा गरी खाने” बनाउँदछ। शिक्षा विकासको आधार हो भने व्यावसायिक तथा प्राविधिक शिक्षा विकासको मूल आधार हो। आजको युग प्रविधिको युग हो। हरेक क्षेत्र—व्यापार, स्वास्थ्य, शिक्षा, यातायात, सञ्चार—सबैमा प्रविधिको प्रयोग अनिवार्य भइसकेको छ। यस्तो परिस्थितिमा प्राविधिक शिक्षा, विशेषगरी कम्प्युटर इन्जिनियरिङ, हाम्रो जीवनको महत्त्वपूर्ण आवश्यकता बनेको छ। कम्प्युटर इन्जिनियरिङले कम्प्युटर प्रणाली, सफ्टवेयर र हार्डवेयरको विकास, परिष्करण र समस्या समाधानमा केन्द्रित शिक्षा प्रदान गर्छ। यसले विद्यार्थीलाई प्रोग्रामिङ, नेटवर्किङ, साइबर सुरक्षा, डाटाबेस व्यवस्थापन, कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता र स्वचालन जस्ता विषयमा दक्ष बनाउँछ। आजको प्रतिस्पर्धात्मक बजारमा यस्ता दक्षता भएका व्यक्तिहरूलाई रोजगारीको ठूलो अवसर छ। नेपाल जस्तो विकासोन्मुख देशमा प्राविधिक शिक्षाले आत्मनिर्भरता बढाउन र बेरोजगारी घटाउन महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेल्छ। कम्प्युटर इन्जिनियरिङ पढेका विद्यार्थीहरूले आफ्नै स्टार्टअप, सफ्टवेयर कम्पनी वा फ्रीलान्सिङमार्फत रोजगारी सिर्जना गर्न सक्छन्। यसले देशको आर्थिक विकासमा योगदान पुर्याउँछ। त्यसैले, प्राविधिक शिक्षामा लगानी गर्नु आजको आवश्यकता हो। विद्यालयदेखि विश्वविद्यालयसम्म प्राविधिक विषयलाई प्रोत्साहन गर्नुपर्छ, प्रयोगशाला, इन्टरनेट सुविधा र व्यावहारिक सिकाइलाई प्राथमिकता दिनुपर्छ। यसरी मात्र हामी डिजिटल नेपाल निर्माणको लक्ष्यमा पुग्न सक्छौं।
